Elm Chapter #48, Order of the Eastern Star, Upper Stewiacke has been busy recently. We’re enjoying all the new renovations the Masons have been doing to upgrade the meeting place.

We have welcomed Rebecca Hunter and Logan Shaw as new members.

We’ve had our annual ESTARL church service, from which the offering goes to students studying for ministry or church music. We were pleased to submit Alicia Cox’s name — a student from the community — for a scholarship to assist as she prepares for ministry.

Cora MacKay was presented a life membership from the Chapter.

Our annual pie sale was a success again this year, which helps us make our donations to charity — Lung Association and Nickels for Nutrition are two of our latest ones.

We had enough members in attendance to bring a Travelling Gavel to our chapter and there was a close race to see who would claim it. That honor went to Myrtle Chapter #21 in Truro.

Our new slate of officers is ready to be installed at our next meeting.

Our Grand Chapter “Garden of Love” will be held in Stellarton from July 14 to 16.
