Truro Presbyterial Spring Rally set for May 6 at First United Church

With Easter just around the corner there comes those special church services to mark the days leading up to and including Easter.

A Maundy Thursday service will be held at Debert United, Debert, at 7 p.m. Communion is part of this service. Good Friday, or Black Friday as some choose to call it, will be celebrated on Apr. 18 at 10 a.m. in Erskine United, Glenholme.

The Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 7 a.m. in Masstown United, Masstown with breakfast and an Easter egg hunt to follow the service. A regular Easter Sunday service will be held at 10 a.m., also in Masstown. You’re invited to join us at any or all of these services. Happy Easter!

There will be a coffee party on Apr. 30 starting at 2 p.m. These are always lots of fun and there’s a bake table, a playroom for the children and if you enjoy quilting, come early! The ladies quilt every Monday afternoon and welcome any who wish to join them. Coffee parties in May will be on the 14th and 28th.

Chowder luncheons have been underway now for a couple of Wednesdays and continue each Wednesday in April. These are held at the Debert Fire Hall. The menu choices are fish or corn chowder with rolls and biscuits, tea, coffee and a large choice of homemade desserts. This is a fundraiser for our Debert UCW. Cost is $8 for adults and take-outs are available.

The Truro Presbyterial Spring Rally will be held on May 6 at First United Church, Truro. Registration is from 9:30 to 10 in the morning. The program will include Constable Bruce Lake of the Town of Truro Police speaking on problems for seniors; Chad Norman doing a reading from his book Masstown, of which he will have copies for sale and has agreed to sign during lunch time; and in the afternoon the Rev. Gary MacDougall will be doing a bible study.

There will be a book display as well, with lots of wonderful items to purchase. Bring a bag lunch, lug a mug and come have a great time with a great bunch of ladies! Everyone is welcome!
