HALIFAX - Halifax Regional Municipality has cancelled its contract with a company behind a high-tech cooling system for five buildings on the Dartmouth waterfront.
The Alderney 5 project was supposed to showcase home-grown technology to cool the buildings.
But CBC News reported Wednesday that the project has run into financial problems, causing the municipality to terminate the contract.
However, Philip Townsend, a municipal spokesman, said the city is still confident the project can be completed.
The cooling system would use harbour water to cool the buildings.
It was supposed to be up and running this summer.
