TRURO - A trust account has been set up in Truro for the family of Doug Harkness, the Atlantic Post Calls editor who is still in hospital recovering from extensive heart surgery on Dec. 1.
As longtime editor of the harness racing publication, the standardbred community has jumped to help the Harkness family. Truro Raceway officials Diane Daniels, Joe Kelly and Morah Kerr have set up the trust account at TD Canada Trust.
Those interested in donating can do
so at the bank or mail a cheque to Truro
Raceway.
The 71-year-old underwent a 10-hour operation for a bi-valve replacement and triple bypass in the cardiac unit of the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. He has since been transferred to the intensive care unit of the Cumberland Regional Hospital in his hometown of Amherst.
