BEAVER BROOK - A Beaver Brook farmer wants to represent the Liberal party of Cumberland Colchester Musquodoboit Valley in the next federal election.
Jim Burrows, 51, operator of Clover Crest Farm Limited in Green Oak, is confident he is the man to make a difference for the Liberals and party faithful.
"I believe that with my broad experience in both business and agriculture I can provide the leadership to build further on the hard work and entrepreneurship that has been one of the hallmarks of our community's success and ensure our community remains a place where individuals can find employment and enjoy a lifestyle others envy," said Burrows, who is married with three university-aged children.
Burrows developed his dairy farm 30 years ago and despite how busy that keeps him, he has made time to offer his services to community organizations.
For example, he has been chairman of the Scotsburn Dairy board of directors for 11 years. He also has been president of the Clifton Acres Investment Co-operative since 2004.
In addition, Burrows has served on the board of directors of the Colchester Co-operative in Truro, including as president from 1986 to 1992 in which time the Co-op expanded from $3.5 million in sales to more than $10 million in sales. He has also been president of the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture as well as a member of the National Agricultural Environment Committee.
