HALIFAX – The company that will operate the ferry between Nova Scotia and Maine has released its fare schedule.
Nova Star Cruises has released its rates of passengers on its ferry between Nova Scotia and Maine, which begins in May.
Nova Star Cruises says passengers will pay a starting price of $79 U.S. when daily round trips begin between Yarmouth, N.S. and Portland, Maine in May 2014.
Fares for the 161-metre long cruise ferry Nova Star will range from $79 to $129 for adults and between $39 to $64 for children aged five to 12 depending on the travel dates, while children under five years of age will travel for free all season long.
The fares will change with lower fares at the beginning and at the end of the season and higher fares during the peak summer months.
The ferry is slated to run from May 1 to Nov. 2.
The Nova Scotia government inked a deal last month with parent company, Maine-based Quest Navigation, calling for the province to provide $21 million in subsidies over seven years to help get the service established.
