TRURO - Caught in a bidding war, Jonathan Baha'i finally got the bunker in Debert he was seeking on Wednesday.

Topics :
Colchester County council , Debert

The man, who lives on the military base in Debert, paid $31,300 for the bunker that went on the auction block because of back taxes being owed.

Baha'i also purchased an adjoining property for $4,150.

"I did weeks of due diligence on this property - I knew the condition of the bunker having spent upwards of a year in there and I knew what had been done to it," said Baha'i as he was leaving Colchester County council chambers where the tax sale was held.

Baha'i said he was aware no one else had been checking into the two properties so was surprised to have been in a bidding war with Scott Verge.

A right of redemption exists on both properties for a period of six months, so Baha'i plans to assess the bunker for any damage while continuing talks with venture capitalists and other potential parties.
