TRURO - The official name of the Truro and area civic centre honours two well-known businessmen.
The facility's name is The Rath EastLink Community Centre, thanks to substantial financial donations made by Truro's Stu Rath and Collingwood's John Bragg. Rath has been a businessman all his life and owns the Truro Junior A Bearcats. Bragg oversees EastLink Television and Oxford Frozen Foods.
Both men would not reveal how much they donated toward the project but said their strong desire to see community development and a well-constructed venue for future generations were a few of the reasons they wanted to be an intregal part of the project.
The announcement was made at the Marigold Cultural Centre on Tuesday morning. About 40 people were in attendance to hear the announcement.

Hey Mr. Truth Squad , I'm not playing word games , just speaking the truth . The bureaucratic class's actions speak for themselves . If they had any sense of charity they would have given cash to the poor ( Not Poverty Pimps ). As far as Irving and Nova Scotia Power , I speak out about those issues too . How does that excuse what's going on in Truro ? Your just trying to misdirect . The bureaucratic class in Truro is selfishly turning Truro into a country club / gated community with $$$ gates , while bulldozing over anything that serves the community , and taking food off of people's tables to pay for it . They also keep taxes high and engage in Boss Hogg / Click Politics . This is why people have been saying for years that this is a bad area to do business . Now they're talking about bulldozing over apartment buildings that are "unsightly". This is because they offer lower rents then many of the high cost / mega grant apartments . Just like they are shutting down lower cost recreational facilities . They are bullies . And you my friend are a boot licker .
