The husband and wife team of Jon and Sue Stanfield have combined their efforts to create two new stores in the former Margolians building. One is called the Stanfield Company Store while the other is named Take It Outside. HARRY SULLIVAN TRURO DAILY NEWS
TRURO - Sue Stanfield pauses for a moment to consider a question and then responds with a smile.
"The comments are amazing," she said, when asked about the customer response to the latest retail outlet to open in the former Margolians store.
"They are very impressed by our product selection for Truro. A lot of people have said they don't have to drive to Halifax anymore and they'll send their friends in, which is awesome."
Stanfield's comments are in reference to two new stores that recently opened on the upper end of the former Margolians called Take It Outside and the Stanfields Company Store.
The primary focus for Take It Outside is on casual active wear, whether you are looking for running gear, hiking or fitness wear, yoga styles or fitness and a variety of outdoor products such as footwear, outerwear and accessories.
The store space has had a complete makeover from its former self and is modern and fresh looking. On one side of the lower level is the Stanfields store, which Stanfield described as essentially "a store within a store," which sells a full listing of the company's premium products including oversized organic cotton wear, thermal products and so forth.
The other side of the lower level and the entire upper level are reserved for the Take It Outside wear, which hosts a wide variety of name-brand active wear, right down to hiking sticks, hats and sunglasses.
"We've had great response on our customer service and what we're offering people when they come into the store, overall," Stanfield said.
"I think that there are a lot of people who are active in Truro and I think there are a lot of people who are looking to look good and feel good when they're active and they're out walking, hiking, walking the dog, shopping, whatever it is. And I think we've added that casual outdoor element to the shopping experience."
And everything is also priced competitively, she said.
"We have a variety of price points here, we have a little bit for everybody. We will do the best we can to ensure people are buying the right products for their need," Stanfield said.
"I think our prices reflect the product quality. Everything is marked at manufacturer's suggested retail price. They're not marked up. Sometimes it costs a little bit more to have a little bit better quality goods but they'll last longer."
