TRURO - A document management specialty company, which began in Cape Breton, has made Truro its base of operations.
WEBDOCS, which is located in the Carlton building at 802 Prince St., offers "secure solutions" that help organizations get their documents and data into automated systems and under control to save time and money, improve accuracy, and minimize risk, said owner Stewart Sommers.
"We take a whole solution approach and harness the various layers of technology to securely link the different systems and let users easily share, access and action the documents and information they need to enable automated business processes to reduce our dependence on paper," he said.
"Imagine a typical company has dozens of folders and filing cabinets full of paper and every once in a while you have a need to pinpoint that needle in the haystack."
Whether it be financial, human resources or human resources/operations information, Sommers said his company can convert paper files into electronic data that can be easily retrieved.
"It could be a customer query, it could be a compliance requirement through government and regulatory bodies or it could simply just be an operational matter," he said. "And just being able to quickly and easily pin point the information you need, whether you want to use if for timely business decisions or route it for some sort of a business process."
Currently Sommers and one other employee work out of the Truro office with about 10 other contract staff who work at arm's length.
"We probably will be hiring in the next coming month," he said.
When that happens, Sommers will be looking for skilled computer-knowledge workers who have "very strong" computer backgrounds.
"Our field is very specialized," he said.
