TRURO - The Town of Truro is putting more money into the Truro Farmers' Market.

Town council unanimously passed a motion during its monthly meeting Monday to approve $121,000 in work to the building, located at the intersection of Prince and Young Streets.

The work includes installing concrete columns to support a canopy at the rear of the building while also installing lights on the Young Street side of the building. Exterior signage will also be posted.

The largest part of the project, which will cost about $100,000, is a repaving of the parking lot behind the building.

"We own the parking lot and haven't kept up with the repairs on it," Mayor Bill Mills said during the meeting.

I think this is money well spent. The market is such a vibrant spot in our town.

How about using the $100,000 to pave/fix a few Truro streets?? Disgraceful!
