WALLACE - A meeting is set for Monday in the Wallace Community Hall for a presentation from an Alberta woman affected by fracking.
Jessica Ernst will convey what it's like to live on land that has been contaminated and whose well water has so much methane in it that it is explosive after gas well drilling and fracking by Encana, near her property at Rosebud, Alta.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Wallace Community Hall on Highway 6 in the middle of the village.
Anyone planning on attending who is driving from a long distance is encouraged to contact Don Wilson at 662 4190 to reserve seats, as the seating capacity in the hall is limited to 172 people under fire marshal regulations.
"Let's get in touch with all the seasonal folks that contribute so much to our communities and who may leave if this gas well drilling industry sets up and does the same as it has done everywhere else (where) it has ruined properties and property values, contaminated water wells and air quality," Wilson said.
