DEBERT - Trucks, excavators, bulldozers and numerous other pieces of heavy equipment will be on the auction block Wednesday in Debert at one of the region's largest annual bid-driven sales.

There will even be five spots auctioned off for participation in next year's world pond hockey championship for February in Plaster Rock, N.B.

"Truro is a very steady market for us," said Jessy Cantin, regional manager for Quebec, the Martimes and Atlantic Canada with Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers.

"And everything will sell to the highest bidder on that sell date," Cantin said, regarding Wednesday's activities. In other words, there will be no minimum or reserve bids.

More than 500 lots of vehicles and equipment are on the auction block for Wednesday.

Bidding begins at 8 a.m. and is expected to run until the afternoon.

"As usual we are going to be getting world-wide representation, whether live or on the web," Cantin said. "We are talking multi-million dollars (in overall sales)."

Auction items include everything from consumer vehicles to highway tractors to heavy construction equipment, forestry equipment, excavators, graders, loaders, backhoes and so on.

But the auction will also include a bid for five player spots for next year's world pond hockey championship in Plaster Rock, which take place from Feb. 9 to 12.

That prize also includes three-night's accommodations for the five individuals who end up being the successful bidders.

The auction will be held at 63 Lysander, Ave., Debert.
