AMHERST - A 19-year-old man drowned early Sunday morning in Nova Scotia after leaping from a bridge into the Shinimicas River.
RCMP say that at 3 a.m. they received a call that four young men had jumped from the Shinimicas River bridge to go for a swim.
One of the four failed to surface.
Const. Paul Calder told the Amherst News that searchers "recovered the young fellow's body" almost eight hours later nearby the bridge.
Poor visibility in the water made it difficult for divers to locate the body.
Police aren't releasing the name of the dead youth until next of kin are notified.

Despite his love of adventure, he was the smartest and most sensible friend I've ever known, and got more out of life in 19 years than most people ever do. None of us were egging each other on, there is no "Free Choice" either, you could die on your way to work tomorrow or from jumping off the same bridge you've been swimming at since you were a small child. For you maybe this story is just something to read about to pass a boring day, But for myself and others it's very personal and real so I'd appreciate that you didn't disrespect my friends memory by calling it stupidity. Sometimes bad things happen to the best of us, when we least expect it. He was many thing's, but far from stupid, at least he could spell....and a priori is two words bud.

You are disrespecting the man who died and his family by chalking his death up to stupidity. Maybe if you knew the whole story you wouldn't be so quick to open your mouth and judge something you know nothing about.

Ain't it. Blame the other 3? For all we know the guy that died could have been egging them on to jump.
