Renowned Canadian guitarist stopping in Tatamagouche, Truro during tour

TATAMAGOUCHE – Renowned Canadian guitarist Roddy Ellias is making two stops in Colchester County this month.

The jazz and classical guitarist is touring the Maritimes, and his first county stop is this Friday in Tatamagouche.

He’s a former professor of guitar at St. Francis Xavier University, and has performed with jazz musicians such as Vic Juris, Gene Bertoncini, Lorne Lofsky and Slide Hampton. His most recent CD release is ‘Monday’s Dream.’

He’ll be performing with Truro’s Amy Brandon, who draws from the worlds of jazz, classical and experimental music. The two will perform original compositions as well as jazz standards.

The Tatamagouche show begins at 8 p.m. July 4 at The Stirling Club on Main Street.

Ellias and Brandon will be in Truro on July 13 at the Marigold Cultural Centre with a master class at 2 p.m., followed by a performance at 4.

Tickets for the performances are $20 each and available at the door.
