TRURO – A 12-year-old boy from Truro has made it to the finals of Maritime Idol 2014.
Joey Blenkhorn is one of 23 in the finals, which will occur over four Sundays in July at the Parlee Beach Restaurant in Pt de Chene, N.B.
All 23 contestants have moved through various stages of the competition since last fall, including four weeks with a different genre of music each week. The ages of the finalists range from 11 to 43, and all 23 will record a ‘Best of Maritime Idol 2014’ CD.
During the final two weeks of the finals, the contestants will perform with the live Maritime Idol band.
The first place finisher will receive a 12-song CD recording with electronic distribution, along with $2,000 in cash and other sponsored prizes. The second place contestant will receive $1,000 in cash, with $500 going to third.
A $100 gift card from Long & McQuade is up for grabs for the contestant their peers deem Mr./Ms./Miss Congeniality.
The judges for the final will include country recording artist Francelle Maria and music educator Lindsay Dominie, with Krysta J from K94 5 and Jon Arsenault of Wooden Stool Productions, joining them.
Arsenault will record and produce the CDs from his studio in Salisbury, N.B.
