NEW GLASGOW – A concert on Mother’s Day will mark the Pictou County Community Orchestra’s 25th anniversary.

The event begins at 3 p.m. at the Celtic Circle, 195 Forbes St., and will feature a number of Truro musicians.

The orchestra draws its membership from throughout the central area of the province and is conducted by Ken Henderson of Truro.

Much of Sunday’s program consists of audience favourites from the orchestra's 25 years of performing.

Musicians participating in the ensemble from Truro include Geline Byers, Daniel Crowther, Monica Geitzler and Al Flemming. Ken Snow, also an orchestra member, will be featured along with Brent MacQuarrie in the sprightly Vivaldi Concerto for Two Trumpets.

Other items on the program run the gamut from Haydn Symphony 101 (The Clock), to Fish & Brewis, a medley of Newfoundland Folk tunes.

Admission is $10 per person or $25 per family. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from orchestra members.
