CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - A recording in honour of Elizabeth Bishop's legacy picked up an East Coast Music Award.

Suzie LeBlanc's ‘I am in need of Music' won the award for best classical album. The album is one of three legacy projects from the Elizabeth Bishop Centenary Festival held in 2011. It features 10 settings of poems Bishop crafted. The poems are set for soprano and chamber orchestra, soprano and string quartet, and piano, paired with a documentary about retracing Bishop's footsteps during a walking tour in 1932 in Newfoundland.

Bishop is a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and short story writer. Many of her writings are about Great Village, where she visited often after leaving as a teenager.

Other musicians with ties to Colchester County - Dave Bartlett, Charlie A'Court and Dan Doiron – that had been nominated walked away empty-handed.
