TRURO - Longtime journalist and university professor Janice Landry will be at the Coles store at the Truro Mall on Saturday to sign copies of her latest book.

‘The Sixty Second Story,' pays homage to her late father, Basil, a veteran Halifax firefighter and all first responders.

The book gives first-hand accounts of the historic rescue of a two-month-old from a house fire in October of 1978.

The author's father, as a result of his actions, was given a Medal of Bravery after almost losing his life saving another.

Basil Landry remains the only Halifax firefighter, in the long and storied history of the department, to ever be awarded this high honour by the Canadian government.

Landry is a freelance writer, director and producer. She is also a senior member of the part-time faculty in the Department of Communication Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University.

The book signing runs from 12 to 2 p.m.
