TRURO - A pair of Colchester County natives who have returned home to make a movie are trying to raise money for their project.
Truro's Leah Johnston will direct the film Some Things Won't Sleep.
Leah Johnston and Andre Pettigrew, both 27, will be shooting a short film called Some Things Won't Sleep, at the John Stanfield Inn Oct. 19 and 20.
The pair was awarded one of four National Screen Institute Drama Prizes, which gave them more than $20,000 in in-kind services and a further $10,000 cash to get the production off the ground.
But Johnston and Pettigrew need additional funding to complete the movie and have launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise the money. To learn more or to make a donation, visit SomeThingsWontSleep.com.
Johnston, a Truro native who has been living in Los Angeles where she has acted in and directed several projects, will be directing Some Things Won't Sleep. Pettigrew, who grew up in Bible Hill and now lives in Halifax where he's worked on the set of several television shows and movies, is the producer.
