TRURO - Marilyn Kellough's watercolours are on display at the Marigold Cultural Centre Art Gallery this month in a ‘Salty Souls' exhibit.
"The paintings in this collection are amongst several images that have been an ongoing theme created from my love for the personality of the ocean," said Kellough. "The ocean permeates our surroundings and our souls. The salty air flows through our blood, we can smell it, we can taste it, and we can feel it on our skin. It shapes and defines who we are."
Shaping and shifting one's surroundings, the ocean connects people, breathes life into a community and can destroy it, she said.
"But the essence of its soul remains intact. It is my aim that the viewer becomes more aware of how salty souls are connected with other people, places and things."
The exhibit runs until Oct. 29 and gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
