TRURO - Two local ensembles are combining their efforts in a concert next month titled ‘On Broadway.'

Led by husband and wife team Ken and Chella Henderson, the St. Andrew's United Church Choir and the Truro Concert Band will perform a salute to the music of the Broadway musical on Oct. 14.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church on the corner of Duke and King streets in Truro. Admission is $10.

Chella has conducted the music at St. Andrew's for more than 20 years.

The choir, in addition to providing musical leadership for Sunday services, has been a regular participant in community events, notably Choir for Comforts and the annual Knights of Columbus service for First Responders.

Ken began his musical career as a young clarinetist in the Truro Concert band.

Now under Ken's musical leadership, the Truro Concert Band draws its membership from throughout the central Nova Scotia area. Its musicians vary in a wide range of ages and levels of experience.

On Broadway will feature medleys and selections, for choir and band soloists, from a range of classic Broadway shows.
