TRURO – Rockers Gloryhound have been added to next month's 'grand opening celebration' at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre (RECC).
Gloryhound – Shaun Hanlon, David Casey, Evan Meisner and Jeremy MacPherson – will open for April Wine at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre’s first concert on Sept. 28.
The Halifax band will open for April Wine on Sept. 28 in the Community Credit Union Arena.
“We are excited to add this up-and-coming band to this special night, giving a unique blend that will draw a wide audience,” said Jim Lambert, the centre’s general manager, in a news release. “They are an excellent fit to open up for our main event.
“With over 700 tickets sold since announcing April Wine last week, sales have been outstanding, and we know that Gloryhound will add to the excitement in the community.”
Gloryhound, probably better known to the younger generation, have built a solid fan base with their high-powered live shows, touring relentlessly over the past couple of years throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario.
The band, consisting of Evan Meisner on lead vocal and rhythm guitar, lead guitarist and background vocalist David Casey, drummer Shaun Hanlon, and Jeremy MacPherson on bass, has toured and opened shows for Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, The Cult, Sam Roberts, Big Wreck and CJ Ramone (of the Ramones).
Tickets for the grand opening celebration are still available at the RECC and online at ticketpro.ca. Admission is $25 for the arena floor beer garden, which will be dance-style and for ages 19+ only. Bowl seating tickets are $15 and are for all ages and general admission, with no seat selection.
