TRURO - Birch Hill native Will Fisher's debut album has been nominated for a 2012 Music Nova Scotia Award.
‘Portage,' by the Will Fisher Coastal Quartet, is up for Jazz Recording of the Year. The other contenders for the award are Dwayne Cote and Duane Andrews, Gypsophilia, Jamie Gatti's Riot Squad, Jeff Torbet, and John Gracie.
During the quartet's release tour across Nova Scotia, Fisher performed at Roadside Willie's to a sold-out crowd, as well as returning to his former high school, CEC, to work with students in the music program.
Another local musician - Charlie A'Court - has a connection to another award nomination. A'Court is featured on ‘Blood Brothers' by Little Derek & The Haemo Blues, which is up for Blues Recording of the Year.
Chaos Theory, which features Truro's Rock Johnson on vocals, is up with its self-titled album in the Loud Recording of the Year category.
Transcontinental, owner of the Truro Daily News, is up for Corporate Sponsor of the Year.
The awards will be handed out on Nov. 11 during Nova Scotia Music Week festivities in Liverpool.
