TRURO - Two hometown performers are returning to Truro this weekend for the Climbing Uphill Cabaret.
The performance, showcasing Julia McLellan and Andrew Boudreau, begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Marigold Cultural Centre on Sunday.
Singing and dancing since the age of three, McLellan got her start with Truro Dance Academy and Leslie Lake-Searle. She later
attended Sheridan College's music theatre program in Toronto and graduated with honours.
McLellan's got a number of past credits, including Ariel Moore in Footloose, Maureen Johnson in RENT and Laurey Williams in Oklahoma!.
She will next be seen in Mirvish production's upcoming The Wizard of Oz.
Starting on the piano at the age of five, Boudreau studied with Truro piano teachers Prue Hansen and Brian Johnston before attending Montreal's McGill University for the Schulich School of Music where he's a designated Schulich Scholar.
Through university, he was the pianist in the most recent edition of the McGill Jazz Orchestra, which recorded an album of music of the Stan Kenton Orchestra.
Boudreau is also featured in the 'Jazz, Period' series, which documents the music of Montreal Jazz musicians.
