RIVER JOHN - The legion here will play host to multi-award winning, roots and blues singer-songwriter Thom Swift as part of River John Festival Days 2012.
Joining Swift for the July 27 show is his band, the El Caminos, made up of Brian Bourne (bass and Chapman stick), Geoff Arsenault (drums) and Bill Stevenson (piano and organ).
Two years ago, Swift released a CD entitled ‘blue sky day.' The day of its release, he performed in Vancouver as part of the 2010 Olympic celebrations and was chosen by CBC as one of Canada's top songwriters as part of the Great Canadian Song Quest.
In 2010, Swift was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award for producer of the year and he won Music Nova Scotia's blues recording of the year award.
He was also nominated for three 2011 East Coast Music Awards, including recording of the year, male solo recording of the year and blues recording of the year.
His latest CD, ‘The Wood Buffalo Youth Song Project,' recently won a 2012 East Coast Music Award in the children's recording of the year category. The album was created with fellow Maritime musician, Keith Mullins.
