Local authors win Atlantic Book Awards

TRURO- Two local authors were presented with 2012 Atlantic Book Awards Thursday night in St. John’s, Nfld.

Truro authors Carol Campbell and James F. Smith, earned a Democracy 250 Atlantic Book Award for Historical Writing for 'Necessaries and Sufficiencies: Planter Society in Londonderry, Onslow and Truro Townships, 1761-1780.'

Ontario author Mary Rose Donnelly won the Jim Connors Dartmouth Book Award for fiction for her novel 'Great Village.'

In total, 26 books were up for nine awards representing the wide range of literary works being produced in Atlantic Canada.
