The 27th annual Eastern Canada Bluegrass Music Awards were held in Truro on Saturday, with many talented musicians taking home top prizes.
The following is a list of award winners:
- Banjo player of the year - Darren Richard, Bluegrass Tradition
- Bass player of the year - Terry Mumford, A New Shade Of Blue
- Dobro player of the year - Doug Proctor, Shadow River
- Fidle player of the year - Christal Thibault, New Ground
- Guitar player of the year - Darrin Beaton, Bluegrass Tradition
- Mandolin player of the year - David Saulnier, New Ground
- Band of the year - Bluegrass Tradition
- Male vocaist of the year - Glen Williams, Grassfire
- Female vocalist of the year - Christal Thibault, New Ground
- Vocal group of the year - Bluegrass Tradition
- Gospel performance of the year - Bluegrass Tradition
- Individual entertainer - Darren Richard, Bluegrass Tradition
- Recording of the year - A New Shade of Blue
- Most promosing band - Shadow River
- Composer of the year - Karen DeCoste, Bluegrass Tradition
- Promoter of the year - Jerry Murphy
- Chris Draper Memorial Award - Jerry Murphy
- Emcee of the year - Serge Bernard
- Radio/TV DJ of the year - Wayne Dugas, CIFA
- Master awards were given to five-time winners in their categories and were presented to: Christal Thibault (fiddle player), Serge Bernard (emcee).
- Participation award - Eastern Shore Bluegrass Music Assocation
- Fan of the year - Dave and Marilyn Singer, East Hants
