TRURO - Paintings and sculptures will be featured in an art show beginning early next month.
‘JOURNEYS, Outward and Inward' begins Oct. 8 at the Visual Voice Fine Art gallery and will feature naturalistic watercolours depicting Eliza Schurman's 2-11 journeys in Uruguay, Argentina and France.
Schurman will also have abstract paintings in oil and acrylic on display, capturing her inward journeys.
The exhibit represents a year in Schurman's life, a personal expression of time and emotion, spontaneous in colour, texture, movement and brushstroke.
"The journey of life takes me on many adventures," said Schurman. "As a painter, I have traveled the world taking in all the sights and sounds that stimulate my creativity. But the inner journey which I explore in abstract painting is the most amazing and exciting."
Sculptor Rob Maloney will also be featured in the exhibit with his marble, alabaster, clay and wire creations.
An opening reception to meet the artists is being held the same date the exhibit opens, from 7 to 9 p.m.
In keeping with the theme of the art show, an accompanying event is also scheduled.
A representation of a traditional Mexican Day of the Dead altar, or ofrenda, will be on display at the gallery on Nov. 2, 7-9 p.m.
