TRURO - Saint Andrew's United Church in Truro will be the site of a concert of light classical music on Sunday, the final day of 2011 Culture Days in Canada.

Concert time is 3:30 p.m.

The program is a combined effort of the Pictou County Community Orchestra, the St. Andrew's Choir and the St. James Brass Quintet of Antigonish

The orchestra will perform two works by Mendelssohn, both of which feature local musicians; a setting of ‘Come Where My Love Lies Dreaming' for trumpet duet (Brent MacQuarrie and Ken Snow) and Concert Piece No. 2, a work for clarinet (Ken Henderson) and viola (Alistair Fraser).

Also on the program are works by Vaughan Williams, Desormes, and Paganani, and a medley of fiddle tunes arranged by Ralph Fraser.

The Pictou County Community Orchestra draws its members from throughout Northern Nova Scotia. It is in its 22nd year of operation. Its co-conductors are Ken Henderson and Gaetan Bouchard. Associate conductors is Scott Jones.

The choirs of Saint Andrew's United Church, under the direction of Chella Henderson, not only provide service music for the church on a weekly basis, but also appear frequently in musical events across the community.

Tickets for the concert are available at the door. Prices are $10 for adults, $5 for students and $15 for families.
