STEWIACKE - The town of Stewiacke hosted yet another successful Stewiacke Days celebration this past weekend and the organization committee couldn't be happier with how things went.
"The whole weekend was a success but Saturday was just a great day," said Stewiacke Days chair Russell Stoddart. "It was a real success."
Volunteers estimated well over 600 people crowded Dennis Park on Saturday after the parade ran through town.
"There were tonnes of people here, we had music on one end and games on the other and everyone was just having a real good time," said planning committee volunteer Wendy Robinson. "Everybody really seemed to be enjoying themselves."
The committee is especially pleased that for the first time in years, none of the events were cancelled due to rain.
"It was sunny and hot all weekend the weather was just perfect," she added.
Robinson admits that there were a few glitches along the way but nothing major by any means.
"We were pleased with how it turned out but there's always room for improvement but mostly just little organizational bits that need tweaking," she said.
The group has already started planning next year's celebration and has decided on the theme of Space Odyssey 2010.
"We will be having meetings monthly starting in September and are still always looking for more volunteers," added Robinson. "Because without enough volunteers we cant pull it all off."
